POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN TEA (PGDT)

Duration : 9(Nine) Months.

Content : The course is divided into four modules:

Tea Culture and Agronomy
History of Tea-Taxonomy and Botany-Tea Selection and Breeding -Vegetative Propagation - Soil and Climate- Mineral Nutrition and Fertilizer Management - Physiology in relation to Productivity -Pruning, Plucking and Shade Management- Drainage - Irrigation -Weed Management- Pest & Disease Management.

Tea Processing
Manufacturing Techniques - CTC, Orthodox & Green Tea, Biochemistry of Tea Manufacturing Processes. Operational Control - Concept & Design of Tea Machinery, Alternative Source of Energy - Audit, Medicinal Properties of Tea, Bio Tea, Value Added Tea, Tea Tasting and Blending - Quality Assessment of Tea.

Tea Management
Management Principles and Practices - Accounting and Financial Management - Production Management - Communication & Management Information Systems - Human Resource Management-Personnel Management and Industrial Relations - Labour Laws -Marketing and Sales Management - Health Management - Tea Economics - Total Quality Management.

General
Nature Study - Land Survey - Computer Appreciation - Project Work in Tea Garden.

Evalution

Continuous evaluation through Class Tests - 25%

Mid Term & End Term Examinations - 50%

Project Report Preparation -25%

Students are evaluated in the Class through oral & written tests including surprise tests at frequent intervals. Students obtaining mark less than 50% will not be awarded a diploma.
The grade system is as follows :

A - Above 75%

B - 65% - 75%

C - 55% - 65%

D - 50% - 55%


Venue : NITM Campus.


Class Hours : From 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. (Except Saturday & Sunday)


Course Fee

Indian Students ₹59,000.00

Foreign Students ₹70,000.00

Rupees Seventy Thousand (Rs.70,000.00) and Rupees Thirty Nine Thousand (Rs.39,000.00) to be deposited on admission by Foreign and Indian students respectively. For Indian Students, balance Rs.20,000.00 is payable in installments. Fees once paid are non-refundable.


Eligibility
Graduate or equivalent in any discipline from any recognized University in India or abroad with good academic record. Candidate should possess good physique and proficient in English.


Agelimit
Should not be more than 25 years. No age bar for Foreign Students, in- service or sponsored candidates. Should be physically and medically fit.


Reservation
25% of the seats are reserved for Female Candidates.


Admission

Admission into PGDT course for male and female students starts from 1st April, 2024. Classes will commence from July, 2024.

Registration
Interested candidates may complete the attached application form and forward the same along with a non-refundable registration fee of ₹300.00 payable by A/C Payee demand draft drawn on any Nationalised Bank in favour of Darjeeling Tea Research and Management Association, payable at Siliguri aiong with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Xerox copies of certificates and testimonials should be enclosed with the application form.
